COP31 President and Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum signed the ‘COP31 Host Country Agreement’ on the second day of the Bonn Climate Change Conference and continued his discussions regarding Turkey’s presidency process.
COP31 President Kurum attended the signing ceremony of the ‘COP31 Host Country Agreement’ within the scope of the Bonn Climate Change Conference. Minister Kurum, who signed the protocol together with Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), stated that constructive cooperation with the UN secretariat will continue to increase in the coming period.
MEETINGS WITH DIFFERENT GROUPS FROM AFRICA TO LATIN AMERICA
Minister Kurum held consecutive meetings regarding the COP31 hosting process within the scope of the Bonn program. He met with the African Climate Negotiators Group, the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) Negotiators Group, the Umbrella Negotiators Group consisting of 11 countries, the Latin American and Caribbean Countries Group, and the Arab Countries Group. Minister Kurum also met with Jochen Flasbarth, German State Secretary for Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety. Listening to the demands of the groups, Minister Kurum emphasized that they would continue to work for a COP process where no one is left behind.
